Job Summary:

The Accountant will assist in the daily operations of the accounting department, assist in accounts payable and receivable processing, assist with the preparation of the monthly closing process, maintain audit schedules, as well as assist with various special projects.


  • Ensures the timely and accurate processing of various accounting records and reports including, but not limited to:
    • Unallowable schedule
    • Sales and use tax for various states
    • Invoice processing
    • Employee expense reimbursements
    • Company credit card bill reconciliations
  •  Competently produces accurate and quality work and communicates the results effectively with team members and management staff
  •  Effectively leads accounting projects and tasks, collaborate across teams and Divisions to meet project goals
  •   Supports more senior staff in various accounting duties as requested
  • Takes initiative to proactively solve problems with minimal supervision
  • Effectively interacts with employees and external customers
  • Contributes to various accounting projects as requested
  • Performs various Data Entry tasks accurately
  • Performs other such duties as may be required

  • US Citizenship
  • Minimum of mid-level Excel skills, which will be tested should your resume be selected
  • Demonstrated technical and leadership ability to take on this level of requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of general accounting principles and methods and basic knowledge of government cost accounting
  • Possesses general understanding of multiple accounting domains

Minimum/Desired Education & Experience for Position:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent degree plus 1- 3 years' relevant work experience
  • Accounting background preferred, but not required
  • Experience and Education may be substituted by outstanding history of achievement


Desired but not Required:

  • Experience with Costpoint/Deltek

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
  • The satisfactory performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position require regular and consistent physical in-office presence Monday through Friday.  Unless otherwise agreed to in writing or authorized under policies of the Company, the employee must report each working day to one of Aptima's places of business to conduct their employment activities.  All use of leave time and Aptima's work-at-home policy shall be reasonable and within the intended scope of the policy.
